In today’s world, some folks believe that dogs are meant solely to stand guard and serve no other purpose. To them, that’s all the justification needed for any treatment, no matter how harsh.
This mindset, however, is a poor excuse to cause these loyal animals pain. Dogs have been our loyal companions for generations, and they certainly deserve better than this.
Even if a guard dog is what you’re after, it doesn’t mean they should be made to endure miserable conditions or mistreatment.
In a situation where dogs ended up chained with their puppies, enduring dire circumstances, rescue was on the horizon, thanks to a concerned individual who reached out for help.
Help Was On the Horizon
When Lisa from Frankie Lola and Friends Rescue in California received the call, she didn’t hesitate. She and her team quickly gathered their gear and went to rescue the unfortunate dogs.
Upon arrival, they asked the homeowner for permission to assist these dogs.
Lisa shared with The Dodo: “As soon as we arrived, the owner led us in, and what we saw was quite heartbreaking.“
There were numerous dogs around, all appearing stressed and bewildered. While some barked, the mama dog they aimed to rescue was simply thrilled to see someone there.
It was as if she knew rescue had come. The rescuers couldn’t believe the dreadful conditions these dogs were in. The mama dog’s nails were overgrown, and she was severely underweight.
The situation was no better for the other dogs. The owner eventually brought in a crate containing two more puppies.
All Dogs Were Handed Over
The surprises didn’t end there. When rescuers politely asked if he would hand the dogs over, he surprisingly agreed without much resistance.
The team was pleasantly surprised, as they hadn’t expected his cooperation. Yet, when it came to the mama dog, he showed some reluctance.
Initially, he was not willing to part with her, but the rescuers offered a few suggestions. They expressed their hope that she could have a comfortable place to sleep and suggested getting her vaccinated.
After some convincing, the owner decided to surrender the mama dog too, much to the rescuers’ amazement.
Lisa noted: “Kindness goes a long way. Had I been anything but friendly, we might not have had this outcome.“
They discovered another dog on the premises needing help as well, so they didn’t leave any behind.
New Beginnings for All
Though it might seem the owner was neglectful, the situation was a bit different.
It appeared he simply owned more dogs than he could care for properly. Fortunately, he recognized his limitations and accepted the needed help.
The pups moved to Lisa’s home in California, where they stayed until they were ready to find their forever families.
As expected, the puppies found homes first and are now happy with their new families. As for the mama dog, now known as Lucky, and her companions, they also received some heartening news.
Rescuers succeeded in finding homes for them all. Lucky thrived with her new family, becoming a completely different dog in just two months, gaining a healthy amount of weight.
Lisa joyfully remarked: “It was pure joy witnessing her unleashed, comfortable, and full of love.“
Now Lucky enjoys playing with her fellow fur siblings and is living the happy life she was always meant to have.
