Aria Keilbach couldn’t believe her eyes when she spotted a poor dog tethered to a tree in his owner’s backyard.
The pup, showing his ribs from hunger, sniffed at the dry leaves around, hoping for a scrap of food.
As the co-founder of Boonie Babies, a rescue and rehabilitation center, Keilbach felt an undeniable urge to intervene.
She informed animal control, who took necessary steps with the negligent family.
Once the clueless owners gave him up, rescuers transported the pup to a shelter.
Upon his liberation, the dog, later named Zero, began to see a shimmer of hope, dreaming of the day he’d receive genuine affection.
A Joyous Reunion with Zero
Aria returned to the shelter a few days later, intent on spreading some cheer to the dogs facing euthanasia.
When she stepped near Zero’s pen and called to him, the dog trotted over to her.
Initially, Zero appeared hesitant and downcast, but soon enough, he was wagging his tail vigorously.
As Keilbach caressed him, Zero soaked up her affection, resting his head gently in her hands.
She took him on a walk, during which Zero bounced around joyfully.
His eyes radiated with gratitude, as if to say thanks for rescuing him from neglect.
Fearing for his future, Keilbach couldn’t abandon Zero to the possibility of being put down and opted to bring him to her rescue center.
“He looked at me with such adoration and hope, I couldn’t walk away that day any more than I could have left him chained and starving,” Keilbach expressed on TikTok.
A Brighter Tomorrow for Zero
Zero relished his newfound freedom with his savior beside him.
Once they arrived at the rescue center, Keilbach pampered him with a hearty meal that Zero devoured joyfully.
She also took him to the vet for a full check-up.
Though malnourished, he was also diagnosed with tick-borne ailments like ehrlichiosis and anaplasmosis.
Aria lavishes Zero with love and dedication, ensuring he receives the care he needs.
The pup is affectionate and can’t get enough cuddle time with her, often giving her plenty of kisses.
Although Zero has quite the journey ahead for a complete recovery, he is making daily strides. Once he’s fit and healthy, he’ll be ready to start the search for his forever family.
There’s no doubt in my mind that this lovable guy will capture the hearts of a fantastic family who will shower him with love and care.
