Controlling dogs can sometimes be a challenge, mostly because they often cherish a bit of mischief. While this playful nature can be entertaining, it can also lead to situations that aren’t safe.
Meet Boogie, a Labrador Retriever who moved from Arkansas to join his new family in Florida. Right from the get-go, he was full of energy and loved playing.
Of all his antics, his favorite was diving into the pool. As a typical Retriever, he’d constantly be holding something in his mouth. Most of the time, it’s harmless, but occasionally, you might find he’s got something he shouldn’t.
And that’s where the chaos begins.
Unaware Owners
From the beginning, Patrik and Jordan noticed that Boogie had a mischievous streak. Aside from his excessive bursts of energy and frequent pool plunges, he hadn’t really posed any big issues.
That was until Jordan, Boogie’s mom, spotted him with something unusual in his mouth. When she noticed the object was wiggling, panic quickly kicked in.
Her husband, Patrik, came over to help, keeping his cool as he spotted a lizard caught between Boogie’s teeth.
The couple started trailing Boogie, firmly telling him to drop the lizard. As per Hemopet, lizards could be dangerous for dogs, so they were concerned.
They tried hard but couldn’t get Boogie to listen to them. He stubbornly refused to release his squirmy prize.
Then Jordan had what she thought was an ingenious plan. She suggested that Patrik toss Boogie into the pool, and without hesitating, he followed her lead.
Unsurprisingly, all that resulted was a soggy Boogie. The lizard was still determinedly clamped in the dog’s jaws.
By the close of the video shared on Instagram by @boogiewoofderland, the lizard had yet to be relinquished.

Jordan’s alarmed cries were not just heard by local neighbors in Florida but also by many viewers online, as the video spread widely. It certainly got people talking.

Thankfully, Boogie’s little adventure had a satisfactory ending—at least for him, if not for the unfortunate lizard.
