When rescuers found a sweet puppy named Bruno wandering the streets, they initially assumed he was just a typical pup needing a break to rest his weary legs.
But soon after they called out to him, they realized something wasn’t quite right.
Bruno couldn’t stand on his hind legs. Realizing how urgent the situation was, the rescuers picked him up, loaded him into their car, and hurried him to the vet to uncover the root of his problem.
Finally Safe
Bruno was found alone, so his rescuers were in the dark about his past. Could he have been born with this condition, or did he suffer an injury?
While the vet worked on getting his x-rays, the rescue team made sure Bruno had a little fun, providing him with a nourishing meal and some playtime to ease his nerves.
During this playful moment, they saw Bruno’s determination as he attempted to stand, which gave them hope for his recovery.
When the vet returned with the scan results, their findings were astonishing.
There weren’t any broken bones! So why the trouble with walking?
The vet suspected that a stroke or a congenital issue might be the cause, but they lacked the specific equipment needed for a conclusive diagnosis.
Wanting the best for Bruno, the rescuers took him to a nearby pet hospital for further evaluation.
It Gets Better
Before heading to the hospital, the rescuers saw that Bruno was anemic and infested with fleas and ticks. He received a much-needed spa day to clean up and relax.
Post-bath, Bruno enjoyed a night of deep sleep, like a contented little pup.
Next day, he was whisked off to a clinic for an in-depth medical examination.
Finally, they unearthed the mystery behind his struggles.
Bruno’s test results revealed he’d had the plague, yet he somehow conquered it on his own. The vets were baffled by his survival without medical intervention.
They speculated that his mom might have carried the plague during his birth, which could have given him the immunity to survive it without meds.
But frankly, dwelling on the past didn’t matter much. What’s key is that Bruno is healthy now.
And since he was back to full health, his rescuers thought he’d be great for adoption right away. They found him the perfect loving family.
Even though Bruno might never walk on four paws, that doesn’t stop him from living a joyful and full life. His new family adores him and is dedicated to ensuring he has the best possible days.
Bruno is absolutely thriving!
