If you’ve spent any time rescuing animals, you’ve likely encountered some heartbreaking tales of cruelty.
Having dedicated 13 years to saving Brewster, New York’s animals, the amazing folks at Special Needs Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Northeast (SNARR) have witnessed countless rescue stories.
Yet, when they received a call about what happened to two adorable puppies, it was a reminder that shocking stories still emerge.
Operation Rescue
The caller shared how they had seen a man recklessly throw two Labrador Retriever-mix puppies into a stream from a moving vehicle.
While one managed to make it to the bank, his brother was desperately fighting to keep his head above water.
“The cruelty in the world today is astounding; sometimes it feels unbearable,” SNARR expressed on their Instagram page.
Luckily, without waiting for help, the caller sprang into action, diving in to save the puppies.
The SNARR team arrived not long after, carefully collected the pups, and whisked them off to their headquarters in New York for immediate care.
Understandably, the puppies were completely disoriented, struggling to grasp what just transpired. Thanks to the quick-thinking Good Samaritan, their timely rescue was indeed miraculous!
“These precious pups are incredibly fortunate to still be with us. A heroic individual pulled them from danger, giving them a fighting chance,” SNARR explained.
Path to Recovery
Named Tucker and Charlotte, these pups were in poor shape. They suffered from watery lungs, road rash, and stomach parasites.
Fortunately, they were under the care of skilled medical professionals who devised an impeccable recovery plan. Their aim was to get the pups back on their paws as soon as possible.
Not to mention, their regimen included loads of love, warmth, and tender care!
“While the future remains uncertain, we’re resolute in our fight for their survival,” SNARR shared.
It was no surprise when Tucker and Charlotte’s health made impressive strides under SNARR’s care.
They began to show their personalities, indicating they were all set for the next chapter of their recovery at a nurturing foster home!
Foster Family Tale
A compassionate foster family opened their doors to the pups, eager to show them what it truly feels like to be cherished.
Now, they’re busy enjoying awesome playtimes, thrilling adventures, and snuggly moments.
“Their foster mom says they’re beyond adorable! They are brimming with energy and greet you with uncontainable excitement every morning!” shared SNARR’s Lauren F. with The Dodo.
Although the puppies are still a bit nervous around loud sounds and quick movements, everyone believes their forever home is just a heartbeat away.
“They are learning they’re safe now,” Laura added.
