Just when I think I’ve seen all the unlikely friendships dogs can form with other animals, something new comes along to surprise me.
We’ve witnessed dogs bonding with cats, raccoons, and even rats, proving they’re not just loyal to humans but seem to have love for all creatures!
Today’s heartwarming tale involves a lovable crow who saw a remarkable German Shepherd not just as a buddy, but as a mother figure.
A Tiny Animal Rescue
Romina and her boyfriend were driving when she spotted what looked like a coffee cup tumbling on the road.
But as they neared, they discovered it was actually a bird!
Curious, they pulled over to check, only to find the crow had a broken foot. Hoping his parents would return for him, they waited but soon realized the little guy was all alone.
Without hesitation, they decided to take him home and give him the care he needed.
“I had some water in a bottle, so I poured some into the cap and gently fed it to him. He accepted the water, then dozed off on my chest during the ride home,” Romina shared with Geobeats.
Once home, they decided to call him Fledgelings, accepting the fact that they had gained a delightful new pet!
A Charming Bond
Fledgelings had quite the appetite, needing food every 20 minutes. Given Romina’s job as a cleaning lady, she had no choice but to bring him to work to ensure he was well-fed.
“Thankfully, my clients are amazing and understanding. I called them and explained, ‘I have a baby bird who needs feeding every 20 minutes. I can come along, if that’s okay.’ They were all so welcoming. So, I’d pause every 20 minutes with a, ‘Sorry, bird feeding break!'” Romina explained.
Frankie quickly adapted to this pampered routine and now reacts with excitement whenever he sees Romina, flapping his wings and opening his beak. He’s grown so accustomed that he even does it with Summer, her sweet dog.
Initially, Summer was a bit perplexed by Frankie.
She didn’t quite know how to respond when he opened his beak, and would sometimes get a little spooked if he landed on her.
Thankfully, over time, Summer warmed up and they developed a beautiful friendship.
“Summer adores him like he’s her own baby. She’s even tried to tidy up a stray feather on him,” Romina recounted.
Being a bird, Frankie eventually had to take to the wild, spreading his wings to live freely. Still, he couldn’t bear to be too far from his newfound family.
“Whenever I open the doors to clean, he flies in immediately. The look of love he gives me is utterly heartwarming. We’re so grateful to have him, and hope one day he’ll soar away and start his own family,” she concluded.
There’s something about seeing an animal that just can’t keep away from their humans — it always tugs at my heartstrings.
This delightful crow didn’t just adopt Romina as a mom; he also brought Summer, her dog, along as his best friend and co-parent.
Honestly, it doesn’t get more touching than that!
