All Grace ever wanted was to feel loved.
This adorable Doberman had a rough life, none of which was her fault. After a serious car accident, she wandered for days, desperately in search of someone to offer her the help she needed.
Finally, Grace found solace in a warm and welcoming foster home.
But just as things seemed to be getting better, her life took another unexpected twist—this time for the worse.
Discovered in a Dreadful State
Juliana, who runs Dirt Road Dogs in Choctaw, Oklahoma, couldn’t ignore Grace’s plight. She swiftly took her in as a foster, offering her the tender care she sorely needed.
“She is a loyal and sweet mini Dobie who is being fostered here at camp with @dirtroad_dogs after she was found hit by a car and suffering with a broken foot,” shared DRD on Instagram.
Grace slowly adjusted to her new surroundings, blossoming into a delightful dog who relished human companionship. She became a lovely dog that adored being around people. However, she still had some adjusting to do with her new furry friends.
But that challenge didn’t persist for long.
Within just a few months, she transformed into a vibrant dog, thoroughly enjoying every moment.
This black Dobie girl showcased all the traits of the perfect companion—an ideal addition to any family. Eventually, her heartwarming nature led her to what she had longed for—a forever home!
A Heart-Wrenching Call
Juliana and her family were thrilled to witness Grace embark on her new chapter. Sadly, nearly a year later, an upsetting phone call came.
The news revealed that Grace’s adoptive owner was arrested for abuse and neglect, leading her to end up at animal control with other dogs. Thankfully, her microchip directed the authorities back to Juliana’s rescue, leaving Grace homeless once more.
“She and the other dogs had been starved, neglected, and abused. Her and the few that survived were taken in and given medical treatment,” noted DRD.
Juliana was heartbroken, having believed Grace had finally found her forever family. However, Grace was met with more trauma instead.
Determined to make things right, Juliana and her family decided to reclaim Grace, though they were uncertain if she would remember them after all this time.
As reunion day came, Juliana’s anxiety was put to rest by Grace’s reaction. Grace didn’t forget!
“It’s been almost a year since Grace left us but when she saw us it was clear she remembered us,” noted DRD.
After a whirlwind of hardships, Grace returned to her safe haven, though this time she would stay for good.
Juliana and her family decided to make their home Grace’s permanent residence, giving her another chance at happiness in Oklahoma.
Despite her previous hardships, Grace was beyond thrilled for a new beginning. She’ll need a bit of time to settle in once more, but the crucial part is that she will never experience harm again.
Looking ahead, Grace’s days will be filled with joy, love, and endless adventures with her furry family members.
