One thing’s for sure when it comes to surprises from your dog – expect the unexpected!
Even if you think you know your furry friend like the back of your hand, they’ll always find a way to catch you off guard. And that’s not always a bad thing!
Some pet parents eventually discover their dog’s secret skills, idiosyncrasies, or endearing fixations.
However, Rocio and her husband, living in Washington, D.C., encountered something completely different – something that absolutely floored them!
They Assumed It Was Just a One-Off
Meet the crew: Rocio, her partner, their Dachshund named Vienna, and the latest addition – a Pug named Floki. They seemed to be the perfect little family unit!
Everything was going smoothly until an unexpected morning changed it all. Waking up to loud, humanoid screams echoing from the living room, Rocio leapt out of bed fearing for the worst. To her astonishment, she realized the source of the noise.
It was Floki!
For some mysterious reason, Floki’s screams were loud enough to startle the whole family, including Vienna. Although unsure of the cause, Rocio and her husband dismissed it as an isolated incident.
Yet Floki continued. And then it happened again. And again!
“Before Floki came into the picture, I had no clue a dog could scream like THIS. The first time it happened, I couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Buddy, what’s got you so vocal?'” Rocio shared with Cuddle Buddies.
They were certain he wasn’t hurt, hungry, or frightened. To calm him, they offered tasty treats and spoke to him in soothing tones for days, but nothing seemed effective.
In a final attempt to solve the puzzle, Rocio and her husband decided a vet visit was in order. They couldn’t shake the feeling that something might be wrong.
Following a thorough examination, they were in for a wild revelation!
Could That Really Be It?
According to the vet, Floki was fit as a fiddle and one cheerful Pug.
His unusual and loud vocalizations had a surprisingly simple explanation, leaving his family absolutely astonished.
It turns out that Floki screams are just his preferred way of expressing himself. Simply put, it’s his way of “talking!”
“We consulted the vet, had all the check-ups… It was confirmed Floki is 100% healthy. There are no heart or respiratory concerns. His screams are purely his form of communication,” his mom explained.
Rocio and her husband could hardly believe it. Was his vocal outburst really just his unique way of making himself heard?
From that day on, they decided to let him be.
Stopping his outbursts wasn’t on their agenda anymore, and in fact, they found the situation downright amusing!
Now, Floki comfortably feels free to vocalize whenever he desires. Whether he’s impatient for his dinner or intrigued by a bird outside, he lets loose with his signature howl. After all, that’s just a part of being a Pug, and his family has fully embraced this quirky trait!
If there were awards for the loudest dogs, Floki would undoubtedly snag the gold medal in Washington, D.C.!
Ultimately, Floki’s family is delighted to have unraveled this little mystery. They feel more connected than ever and are eager to uncover more of his “hidden secrets” as time goes on!
