Oklahoma deputy sheriff finds abandoned dog locked in a room after owners move away

Being in law enforcement isn’t a walk in the park. There’s a fair share of sticky situations calling for tough calls.

The job often hits hard, sometimes in unexpected ways.

For instance, an Oklahoma deputy sheriff stumbled upon a dog while checking an abandoned house.

This pup was trapped in a room, left to fend for herself, slowly starving. She was confused about her predicament, but luckily, this compassionate sheriff was there to lend a helping hand.

An Emotional Encounter

Deputy Sheriff Joe Hager felt a pang of sorrow when he locked eyes with the dog through the room door. It’s always tough to witness how some folks treat their animals.

This sweet dog didn’t deserve to be abandoned like this. Options were available if the owners couldn’t keep her, yet they chose cruelty.

When the dog growled and barked out of confusion, Joe realized she hadn’t had water for days.

The food tantalizingly sat outside the door, making survival impossible. The deputy promptly contacted Oklahoma Animal Control, who were quick to arrive on the scene.

The team managed to soothe the distressed pooch and ensured she was safely taken to a shelter for the care she needed.

Thankfully, things turned out for the better. She’s been given a fresh start at the shelter. The sheriff’s department shared a video online, determined to raise awareness through this heartbreaking tale.

Outpouring of Emotions

Once the video hit Facebook, people reacted with heartbreak and anger towards the mistreatment of this innocent dog.

Someone expressed, “Find the person responsible for this cruelty and hold them accountable.

Chances are slim that justice will catch up with the owners, but it’s undeniable that action needs to be taken to prevent such situations in the future.

Another added, “Hoping animal control gives her a chance. She looks like she’s been through enough.

I’m confident they’ll care for her and eventually find her a loving home.

Someone else shared, “I have a fearful pup too. Her bark sounds intimidating, but she’s as sweet as can be. She’s always ready to comfort me when I’m down.

It breaks my heart to think of the fear she suffered when first discovered. But I’m relieved she’s moved past that.

Despite the neglect she endured, I believe she’s now living a much-improved life, thanks to the wonderful folks who stepped in to save her.
