Pregnant dog’s last-minute miracle saves her just before euthanasia

In the streets of Oklahoma, a homeless pregnant dog roamed, longing for a brighter future where she and her little ones wouldn’t have to scrounge for scraps.

Her hope was to nurture her pups in a home filled with love and kindness.

Once rescued and brought to a shelter, she felt her dream was within reach.

However, the shelter was full, and sadly, the two-year-old dog found herself on the euthanasia list.

She rested in her kennel, feeling utterly defeated.

Would anyone hear her silent plea for help and offer her the rescue she desperately needed?

Rescued Just In Time

Named Mama Baskin Robbin, this hopeful pup’s dreams were fading. Feeling trapped, she longed to break free from the shelter.

She yearned to dash away and embrace her freedom.

It was then that Sara, a seasoned foster, stumbled upon a Facebook post about Mama Baskin Robbin, whose life was hanging by a thread. Time was of the essence.

With the euthanasia set for 9 a.m., Sara had no time to spare.

Teaming up with Pawsitive Tails in Kansas City, she and the rescue agency urgently contacted the shelter at 8:30 a.m., just before Mama Baskin Robbin’s fate was sealed.

Brimming with anxiety, they hoped they weren’t too late.

Thankfully, the shelter responded just in the nick of time, agreeing to hold her until she could be picked up.

Mama Baskin Robbin Finds Safety

A devoted volunteer embarked on a five-and-a-half-hour journey to rescue Mama Baskin Robbin.

Despite being in the car, the pup looked out the window with a somber gaze. Little did she know, she was finally safe.

The volunteer brought the expectant mother to Sara’s home.

Welcomed warmly, Mama received affection and gentle words from Sara.

Sara set up a cozy whelping box for the soon-to-be mom and her pups. Finally, the dog felt safe and drifted into a peaceful sleep.

With over a decade’s experience fostering pregnant pups, Sara was well-prepared for the journey ahead.

The Arrival of New Life

Three days later, Mama Baskin Robbin gave birth to eleven puppies after a lengthy eighteen-hour labor. These adorable pups were named after Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavors.

An excellent mother, she tended to her tiny ones, embracing them with tender care.

Amidst love and care, the puppies began to flourish.

One night, a frightening episode of tremors sent Sara rushing Mama to the vet.

After various tests, it was discovered she had mild anemia, not unexpected following such prolonged labor.

As time went on, Mama Baskin Robbin began to bond with Sara, eventually breaking into smiles. She finally understood she was safe and sound.

Now she delights in cuddling with her puppies, enveloping them in love.

Sara continues to care for the loving mother and her pups. Once the little ones reach ten to twelve weeks, they will be ready to seek their forever homes.

I truly believe that both Mama Baskin Robbin and her babies will find warm, loving families to cherish them always.
