Just like us, our furry friends also benefit from a relaxing spa day now and then.
As their coats grow, dogs not only need grooming to look adorable but also to keep their fur from getting tangled and matted.
Unfortunately, some dog owners sometimes overlook this part of pet care, resulting in their dogs finding themselves in quite a mess—literally!
There was one owner who couldn’t keep up with his pets’ needs, and things got out of hand; the two poor pups turned into something resembling mobile fur tangles!
A Hero Steps In
Laura, a rescuer based in Houston, caught wind of their predicament and felt compelled to help.
“An elderly man had two dogs he could no longer care for. I knew I had to take them in. I couldn’t stand to see them like that,” Laura shared with The Dodo.
Besides being entangled in mats, the dogs were also caked in mud. Laura brought them to her home, aiming to build some trust with them.
She let the fluffy duo explore her garage to get comfortable with their new environment. Once they’d settled in, she slowly approached and petted one of them on the head.
“I managed to clear Chuy’s face of fur. It was heart-wrenching. I broke down in tears, thinking, ‘Sweetheart, you’re so beautiful underneath this mess. It’s going to be alright,'” Laura recounted.
Unbelievable Change
As it turned out, Laura had a friend who was not only a rescuer but also a skilled groomer. Her friend came over excited to give the dogs the grooming session they so desperately needed.
After two solid hours of grooming, the pups were ready to embark on their new beginnings.
Now named Noel and Chuy, the ecstatic pups celebrated their newfound freedom by running and playing around without the burden of grimy, painful mats!
Laura had a pool, cherished by her other dogs, so she introduced Noel and Chuy to it.
As expected, they absolutely loved it!
The pool and playtime really helped them reconnect with their playful sides, turning them into the joyous dogs they deserved to be.
As fortune would have it, a kind-hearted family, taken by their story, decided to welcome both into their home. Laura couldn’t have been happier, knowing how much the duo meant to each other.
“These pups were inseparable and they found a perfect home, living their best lives. Chuy and Noel might have started from a dark place, but their journey of transformation is truly remarkable,” Laura concluded.
