To keep them both cheerful and fit, regular grooming is essential for many dogs, especially those with flowing, long hair.
Grooming involves pampering them with warm baths, trimming their nails, cleaning their ears, and ensuring their coat is sleek and tidy. Sadly, not every dog is lucky enough to enjoy these spa delights that make them feel rejuvenated.
Some dogs endure many months or even years with their fur unbrushed, resulting in dirt and tangled, matted hair.
One such dog, Panda, a neglected stray, suffered from this kind of neglect for over 12 months.
Rescuing Panda
Panda was discovered as a kind-hearted stray at the Annenberg PetSpace in Los Angeles, which is dedicated to enriching the human-animal relationship through pet adoption.
He arrived in a pretty dreadful condition, with his fur a tangled mass of mats.
“When he was loaded into our vehicle, he had a barn-like smell. We just wanted to give him time to unwind,” shared Catie with The Dodo.
After earning Panda’s trust, the staff set about removing the matted fur.
Panda was taken to the expert groomer Mario J Martin in Los Angeles to receive a much-needed trim.
Mario carefully shaved Panda’s fur, bit by bit, aiming to free him from the tangles that were holding back his joy.
Thankfully, Panda cooperated beautifully with Mario throughout, almost sensing it was all for his well-being.
“It was impossible to distinguish where his tiny ears ended and the fur began,” Catie also noted.
After some tedious work, all that was left was a pile of tangled fur and a gleaming, adorable puppy.
Looking like a dapper little fellow, Panda was at last ready for adoption.
A New Beginning
As Kitty was browsing through her phone, she stumbled across a video of Panda’s makeover. His charming appearance struck her, and Kitty felt compelled to meet him.
“The main thought in my head was, ‘I hope he likes me’,” Kitty shared.
Immediately upon meeting Kitty and her partner, Panda was smitten, playfully engaging with them.
Falling head over heels, Kitty couldn’t imagine spending another day without this charming pup in her life.
And just like that, Panda found his forever home!
He now enjoys life in the most loving home, where he is adored and cherished by his new family.
His favorite pastimes include tail-wagging and going for car rides. Anytime his family heads out, he’s eager to join and find out where the adventure leads.
“Every time I reach for my purse, he’s like ‘Where are we going? I’m coming too. Where are we going?’” Kitty added.
Reflecting Back

Panda is now living his dream life, full of joy, exploration, and regular grooming sessions.
