It’s heartbreaking to see helpless creatures fending for themselves on the streets, a sight all too familiar in our daily lives.
Recently, the internet was stirred by a poignant scene involving a German Shepherd in Montebello, California. The dog hadn’t moved from his spot in days, prompting compassionate people to share his plight online, hoping someone would step in to help.
Rescue Efforts Begin
Isabel Gallardo, an experienced rescuer from Marinwood, California, was alerted to the situation. Driven by compassion, she made her way to Montebello to help the stranded German Shepherd. However, her mission proved challenging upon arrival.
“When I arrived, an AC officer had just parked. I told her I was there for the dog. We spent several hours trying to catch him, but he wasn’t having it,” Isabel shared on her Facebook timeline.
Fortunately, Isabel had a network of rescuers she could count on, one being the renowned rescuer Suzette Hall, who arrived with a trap and helped catch the dog, which was key in saving him.
The dog, named Monte by his rescuers, was pulled from despair thanks to the selfless efforts of these wonderful individuals. Isabel made sure to acknowledge everyone who supported the rescue mission.
She expressed her gratitude to “Laurie Mitchel for numerous things beyond listing, her invaluable friendship and rescue expertise,” and to “Laura [Bobadilla] for her vigilance in Montebello.”
Ultimately, Isabel brought Monte to her home, dedicating herself to his ongoing care.
Transforming Into “A Whole New Dog”
Just days after this rescue, Suzette Hall, who founded Logan’s Legacy, shared some uplifting updates on Facebook.
“Before and after,” she wrote in her Facebook post. “This is how it should be: at home and in a bed, not abandoned under a tree.”
She detailed that Monte had endured much and they were working to resolve all his issues, noting optimistic progress.
Suzette shared that Monte was being treated at Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine, California, where they diagnosed him with anemia. He received a medicated bath, flea treatment, deworming, bloodwork, anti-inflammatory injection, cytopoint, and antibiotics.
“After a few weeks of proper care, we’ll have him neutered and take care of his dental needs,” she added. “This sweet pup will transform into a whole new dog.”
Monte’s future looks promising, thanks to the caring people who saved him and gave him a fresh start.
“We love you deeply, sweetheart,” Suzette concluded. “We’re committed to standing by you, unlike those who left you.”
