Picture a burly Rottweiler, a descendant of the powerful Roman Mastiffs, cowering in fear of a tiny puppy the size of his head. Seems improbable, right?
Yet, such a scenario unfolded as a normally brave member of this protective breed found himself unable to move from the couch, all because of a playful little pup.
Once he overcame his initial apprehension and recognized her benign intentions, a heartwarming friendship blossomed, persisting to this day.
This endearing tale is sure to make you chuckle and warm your heart.
Initially, The Couch Was His Sanctuary
Meet Dozer, the Rottweiler, who shared a serene life with his sister, Lilah. Everything was peaceful until one day, their owner, Kimberly Ward, introduced a new family member in Claremore, Oklahoma.
Enter Daisy, a little French Bulldog, who instantly disrupted Dozer’s peace. From the get-go, Daisy was eager for playtime, but Dozer had no idea how to handle the situation.
“At first, he was sort of frightened by her,” Kimberly Ward shared with The Dodo. “Her tiny yet bold and charming nature baffled him. She constantly wanted to play with him, but he wasn’t aware he could behave like a pup himself.”
With every escape, Daisy chased after him with greater urgency. Realizing his resolve to retreat—the couch became his only refuge, a place Daisy’s tiny self couldn’t reach.
That comfortable spot on the couch became his haven for some days.
Unleashing His Inner Puppy
Daisy’s determination knew no limits. With spirited persistence, she frolicked around Dozer, enticing him into a playful chase he simply couldn’t resist.
“Once he realized chasing her was part of the fun, everything changed,” Ward explained. “He understood he could interact and have fun with her.”
From then on, their amazing friendship started to grow stronger, and although Daisy’s energy far exceeded his own, Dozer managed to keep up with her.
They spent joyous hours scampering around the couch, darting through the yard, and playing hide and seek under beds.
What stood out was Dozer’s gentleness—he was never rough when playing with his tiny sister. “He understood she was fragile and required a gentle touch,” Ward noted.
Against all odds, playful Daisy managed to awaken the puppy within Dozer—a feat none thought possible.
Indeed, play was their shared language, and the one Dozer resonated with most.
A Perfect New Addition
Despite the strong bond between Dozer and Daisy and how well Frenchie fit in, Ward sensed that Daisy needed a playmate who matched her vibrancy.
Enter Mocha, a new Frenchie, into their Claremore abode—a perfect buddy for Daisy and a delightful new addition for the Rottweiler siblings.
From the moment they met, Daisy and ‘Mini Mo,’ as they nicknamed her, were inseparable.
“They delight in play and merriment, engaging in lively games for a few hours each day,” Ward said. “Their bond is truly amazing.”
Unlike her exuberant sister, Mocha developed a more serene temperament, preferring cuddles over chaos.
While playing with Mini Mo, Dozer remained gentle, often letting her triumph in the game of tug-of-war.
Thus, the whole family evolved into a jovial and harmonious group.
When asked if the family had plans for more additions, Ward hinted, “There might always be room for another little sister or brother.” Dozer and Daisy seem to thrive on having company!
