All Zoe really wanted in life was a little affection.
Unfortunately, on one dreadful day, she faced abandonment instead of love.
Her owners, no longer willing to care for her, cruelly decided to leave Zoe stranded in the woods, far from anyone who might hear her cries. To make sure she wouldn’t follow them back, they tied her securely to a tree and departed forever.
Engulfed by the unfamiliar wilderness and the approaching night, Zoe could do nothing but sit there, hoping against hope for rescue.
How Could Anyone Be So Heartless?
Just as Zoe’s hope began to fade, a person happened to walk past her. Taken aback by such cruelty, they quickly took action. They reached out to Kola Kariola, a group dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned animals.
“An ingenious thinker discovered the ‘best’ way to dispose of the dog. He probably believed tying her to a tree was more humane than letting her loose,” KK mentioned on Instagram.
The rescue crew was on the scene in no time, filled with a mission to provide Zoe the hope she yearned for.
Initially, when the rescuers reached Zoe, she was the picture of despair. She was only left with a rope tied around her neck, with not a scrap of food or drop of water nearby.
Not surprisingly, things didn’t go as smoothly as the team had hoped.
Zoe remained deeply shaken and couldn’t bring herself to trust anyone around her. As the rescuers tried to free her from the tree, she barked and growled, trying to ward off the strangers.
But with patience and a skillful use of a catchpole, the volunteers managed to calm her, readying Zoe to finally leave behind the place that had filled her with such terror.
They gently placed her in the car, setting out for the rescue center, though Zoe was still clueless that her painful past was now just that – the past.
A Little Lovebug Named Zoe
In less than a few weeks, Zoe came to the delightful realization that she was finally secure.
The entire crew, including her vets, ensured she received plenty of love every day, which helped Zoe come out of her shell. Beneath her once-timid exterior was a loving dog who just yearned for companionship and affection!
“She is gentle, kind, and cheerful, ready to give her best,” the rescue proudly shared.
Quickly, she adjusted to life at the rescue, enjoying the company of new furry friends who had somewhat similar pasts.
With countless kisses on her nose and plenty of delicious meals, Zoe blossomed into a completely different pup. Following a chapter of adversity, she underwent an incredible transformation, bringing immense joy to her caregivers. Witnessing Zoe’s rebirth was truly invaluable!
“Zoe is living proof that miracles do happen. She is a puppy who truly deserves a second chance,” the rescue announced on Instagram.
Currently, Zoe is on a quest to find her forever home. She yearns for a family who will shower her with the care she missed out on before. Most importantly, she longs for someone who will remain by her side through thick and thin.
The rescue team is committed to ensuring Zoe finds a family who will never dream of leaving her behind.
Until that special family comes along, she’s enjoying visits to the beach and having fun with her furry pals from the shelter!
