Dogs in shelters across the country dream of finding humans who will shower them with the love they’ve always longed for.
Sadly, many of these dogs spend a long time waiting for that special someone to walk through the door and claim them as family.
This story focuses on Ebony Anne, a delightful 10-year-old dog who endured six years in the Lytle Animal Care And Control shelter in Boerne, Texas.
Throughout those years, Ebony Anne held onto the hope that one day, a loving family would notice her and take her to a home full of love.
She yearned for affection and to enjoy the simple pleasures that life had to offer.
Her Long Stay at the Shelter
When Ebony Anne first arrived at the shelter, she quickly captured the hearts of the staff with her sweet nature.
The shelter’s employees were so fond of her that they would hide her whenever the shelter became overcrowded, fearing she may be put down.
Although the staff’s love was meaningful, Ebony Anne’s heart craved the irreplaceable bond that only a permanent family could offer.
The staff couldn’t fathom why no one had chosen to adopt this wonderful dog.
After six long years, Ebony Anne ended up on the dreaded euthanasia list, a fate no one wanted for her.
Determined to find her a forever home, her shelter friends reached out to rescue organizations, pleading for someone to step in and save her from this grim fate.
Li’l Paws to the Rescue
That’s when CCPAL – Cowboy Capital Pet Assistance League, a rescue team in Texas, heard the call for help and swiftly promised to take her under their wing.
With a hopeful heart, Ebony Anne bid farewell to the shelter staff who had cared for her all these years.
As the CCPAL staff came to pick her up, Ebony Anne felt a surge of hope, believing her life was about to change for the better.
The loving dog hopped into their car, her face beaming with joy, eager to show her appreciation and love to her rescuers.
The CCPAL team wondered how such a charming dog had been overlooked for a loving home. They remained hopeful that she would soon find her forever family.
In their eyes, Ebony Anne was a lovable gem who, despite being a senior, still had a youthful zest for life and adventure.
“Ebony Ann loves car rides, is potty trained, good on a leash and loves all humans. She does well with non-dominant male dogs but would thrive as an only pet. She’s a perfect fit for an older couple looking for a walking companion or a truck driver seeking a loyal companion on the road,” the rescue shared on Facebook.
Hoping for Her Happy Ending
More than anything, Ebony Anne dreams of finally experiencing what it’s like to be in a loving home, showered with affection.
Currently located in Texas, she is available for adoption to a family that will cherish her. The rescue works with transporters for adoptions to areas like Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont, or anywhere along the East Coast.
We hold out hope that soon, this affectionate pup will find the family who will open their arms and hearts to her.
Just like every dog, Ebony Anne deserves to bask in love, joy, and warmth in a place she can call her own.
